It’s finally Fall in San Diego!!  We’ve had colder weather in the evenings, with rain some mornings, and sunshine in the afternoons.  Navigating these temperature changes throughout the day means wearing layers…and apparently mixed prints.  There will be a time during the day when I’m out in direct sunlight, and a striped tank with jeans will do.  But from the morning when I don’t need my coat, to the evening when I’m out at the soccer field and NEED it, I’ll know that I’m prepared for the day.  And when I say “NEED” it’s because it’s below 65 degrees.  I know, it’s just one of those problems about living in Southern California, we freeze at higher temperatures.  Oh, and yes, my jeans are pegged…a little throwback from my youth.  The mixed prints are just a fun way to add some personal style!  Have a fabulous weekend!!

Fall is here, and it’s time to bring out the boots!  Remember the mid-calf boot trend?  Well, it’s back.  But it’s been renamed as the Midi Boot.  This particular boot has been the toughest for me to style, even back in the 90’s.  So, I’ve combed through images and pinned them as reference for when I get stuck or need inspiration: here.

Fashion Friday – Little White Dress

The summer months bring out the dresses, and in particular the Little White Dress.  As with the staple Little Black Dress, it also can easily be dressed up or dressed down for whatever the occasion.  This is where your style personality can shine!  Add leather, denim, jewels, flats or heels, your canvas is set for you to make this look your own.

White Maxi Skirt

In my case, I do not own a white dress, but I do have a white maxi skirt!  Because I love getting the maximum usage out of my wardrobe, I thought to turn the skirt into a dress.  Add a denim vest, cinch in the waist with a rope belt, and complete the look with a comfortable pair of stylish wedges!  The creative options are endless when it comes to a Little White Dress!

Fashion Friday – Crossbody Bag

I’ve been having a blast these past couple weeks joining in the Tuesday + Thursday #coasttocoastchallenge put on by Coast To Coast Central.  Yesterday, the challenge was the crossbody bag.  What I love about this type of bag is it allows me to have my hands free.  Moms like me appreciate being able to carry our purse around the park, shopping, walking the dog…and still have a free hand to hold our child’s hand.

When I thought about this particular fashion challenge, this dress came to mind immediately!  With my craving for the Fall season, I couldn’t help but jump to the opportunity to layer.  Which explains why this dress became a top, as well as the denim dress beneath it!  Without the jeans, this look would be completely different and more summer appropriate.   Utilizing elements from summer and carrying these pieces into the cooler months, I’m excited to begin transitioning my wardrobe.

I must mention the unconventional method I came to acquire this adorable bag.  What does one do with airline mileage that will not be used before the year is up?  Purchase items with points!  Thank you to my dear husband, for always thinking of me.

Fashion Friday – Wedding Wear

It was just about a month ago that we celebrated my mom’s wedding.  It was a beautiful day, filled with love and family memories.  Having the grand kids be the wedding party was highly important to my mom, and the focal point of my attention when thinking about outfits.  What I was going to wear to the wedding was an afterthought.

The afternoon we celebrated my mom’s birthday, we decided to stop into the local Kohl’s after the celebratory lunch.  When scanning the clearance racks unsuccessfully and ready to leave the store, I noticed this particular beauty hanging in a clearly mistaken rack.  After a closer look, I noticed that it was on clearance!  And in my size!  At that point, I knew that this was the dress I was going to wear to the wedding.

Currently, this is my favorite dress in my closet.  I feel completely feminine, and the comfort is amazing when worn.  The detail that can’t be seen in the photos is the sheath dress beneath the chiffon in a similar pattern, giving a layered ethereal effect!  Price?  Originally, $78.00; I purchased for $46.80.

I love mixing high end brands with low end brands.  Not only can I have more versatility in my looks by accessorizing, but the high end items elevate the entire outfit.  For example, the classic maxi dress with a denim jacket!

These aviator sunglasses are Dolce & Gabbana, and are the perfect color of metallic for my skin tone.  This Coach bag is a beautiful classic that will never go out of style.  Changing out my purse to coordinate with each outfit has extended the life of my bags.   These functional items have truly become a key piece to accessorizing my ensembles.  Depending on the occasion, my bag will dictate what I wear.  Are you a bag changer?

052314dA hi-lo skirt, Ebay purchase, Mother’s Day gift, and AWANA.  What possibly do these four things have in common?  My outfit!

052314cThis hi-lo skirt has been waiting in my closet anticipating to be worn.  I knew that when I received this purse as a Mother’s Day gift (featured on my pintrest “Mother’s Day Gift Ideas” board) this skirt was going to have its moment!

Not only did the purse inspire me to wear my skirt, but it also was a perfect match for my Seychelles!  These shoes are where eBay comes into the picture.  Like many people, I was skeptical to purchase a pair of shoes on auction.  But because I knew my size for this particular brand, I felt assured they would fit.  When eBay said I won these puppies…I really did win, at over 75% off!  Don’t shy away from eBay if you are looking for a particular pair of shoes and can’t seem to find them anywhere.  Or think about this, did you ever own a pair of shoes you loved and wished you bought another pair because you were afraid they weren’t around anymore?  Check Ebay.  Surprisingly, people clear out their closet finding shoes they never wore but purchased thinking they would.
052314Now as I put my ensemble together, it was missing an accessory…enter, the owl necklace.  This necklace has an endearing memory associated with it.  My daughter used her hard earned AWANA bucks to buy me something special.  She memorized bible verses, prayed during club, participated, volunteered, etc. to receive these bucks.  I wear this necklace with great joy!  It along with my Mother’s Day purse indeed make me feel “Adorned with Blessings!”
